Abstract

Background. In the context of China's growing influence on the world stage, the strengthening of the military-political factor in international relations and active hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the issue of interlingual terminological interaction in the field of security and defense is gaining particular relevance and strategic importance.
At the same time, modern Chinese military terminology is characterized by rapid development, a high level of technological complexity, and a specific hieroglyphic structure. Under these circumstances, there is an urgent need to systematize lexical units and to develop a high-quality military terminological dictionary based on corpus-driven and digital methods of analysis.

Methods. During the study, a comprehensive approach to compiling a dictionary of Chinese military terminology was developed and tested, combining the methods of corpus linguistics, automated data collection and processing, frequency analysis and structural classification of terms.

Particular attention was paid to creating a corpus of Chinese military texts for automated detection of terminological units. A set of methods was applied for automated processing, analysis and structuring of Chinese military terminology based on the corpus of texts of the Xinhua News Agency.
Results. Python scripts were developed to implement the following research steps:
      1. The "parsing_xinhua_news_to_corpus.py" script automatically downloads and processes news articles from the Xinhua News Agency website, forming a text corpus.
      2. The "parsing_xinhua_military_news_to_xlsx.py" script specializes in processing military news, extracting relevant data and saving them in Excel format.
      3. The "corpus_to_dict.py" script analyzes the collected corpus of texts, highlights terms, and forms a structured dictionary that includes the frequency of use.
      4. The "word_count_by_length.py" script counts the number of terms depending on their length, which allows you to identify patterns in the structure of military terminology and show their productivity.
      5. The script "corpus_categorization_on_patterns.py" categorizes terms by structural templates, which contributes to a deeper understanding of the structural features of military vocabulary.
A separate result of the study is the creation of an electronic dictionary structure that can be used for linguistic, educational and translation purposes.

Сonclusions. The frequency approach to the separation of terms based on the corpus allows us to outline the priority themes of modern military discourse in Chinese mass media.
